Beginning Oil Painting is a class for anyone curious about oil painting, from the absolute beginner to those who have dabbled but need more clear instruction. The class will provide you with the tools to get started exploring the medium of oil paint. We will learn about the materials involved in the process, how to use them safely, and how to apply them to create paintings that will be cherished forever.
The class will open with an introduction to paints, mediums, solvents, surfaces, and commonly used tools. We will discuss how to use these materials in a safe manner and then dive into a tutorial on creating value strings and mixing color. We will break for a 30 minute lunch and then start individual paintings. References will be provided for students to choose from. The instructor will start the afternoon with a demo on how to start a painting and then meet with each student one on one throughout the rest of the afternoon.
All necessary supplies will be provided.
