Homeschool / Youth Art Classes
Black Barn offers serious drawing & painting curriculum for youth, whether your young artist is homeschooled, or off for the summer. We offer weekly classes at a monthly rate, as well as occasional intensive workshops - all to help fuel your young artist's creativity and help them grow artistically through skill building and development of techniques.

Drawing Classes

Materials Provided: Pencil, Pen, & Paper

​$125 + tax includes all materials for in class work, however we recommend each student have their own materials for practicing at home. Sketchbooks are also helpful for having in class and working out visual ideas and compositions.

May Drawing - Creature Character Design
​
Artists Farren Moss joins the teaching team as Carli heads off to Italy to earn her Masters degree.
​
In May students will study with Derek & Farren, designing creatures and fully realizing them in pencil, pen, & some colored pencils. This month's classes will be extremely creative, and students will learn to develop fantastical creatures based on real life reference & inspiration.
Intermediate Painting for Youth

Fridays 1:00-3:00pm

During the month of May students will be inspired to design & recreate their own favorite book covers or album covers. Paints available will be acrylics, watercolors, and gouache. Students can work on canvas or paper with the guidance of Farren & Derek.

Want to register your young artist for double sessions on the same day? For example Drawing on Fridays from 10-12, and Painting from 1-3?

We offer a 20% bundle discount for one student taking two classes on the same day. They are welcome to bring a lunch, and enjoy a lunch break from 12-1 in between classes
