Homeschool Art Lessons
Black Barn offers serious drawing & painting curriculum for youth, whether your young artist is homeschooled, or off for the summer. We offer weekly classes at a monthly rate, as well as occasional intensive workshops - all to help fuel your young artist's creativity and help them grow artistically through skill building and development of techniques.

Coming in August - Figure Fridays with James Andrews
Figure Fridays are a fantastic opportunity for young artists to come together and develop their skills in figure drawing and comic book anatomy! In these two sessions on August 8th & 22nd, students can expect to learn about the fundamentals of drawing the human form, from proportions and poses to muscle structure and movement.
With a focus on comic book and character anatomy, attendees will gain valuable insights into creating dynamic and believable characters. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out, Figure Fridays offer a supportive and creative environment to learn, share, and grow with fellow artists. Students will pose for each other in portions of the class to assist in researching dynamic character forms.
Ages 12 and up recommended – but contact us if your artist is close in age and focused well on drawing.

$125 includes all materials for in class work, however we recommend each student have their own materials for practicing at home. Sketchbooks are also helpful for having in class and working out visual ideas and compositions.

Intermediate Painting for Youth

Fridays 1:00-3:00pm

Join in this wonderful studio painting class where young artists learn painting techniques in color in a variety of subjects. Instructors have some good color theory projects for new students, and returning students can branch out into more individual and long term projects.

Want to register your young artist for double sessions on the same day? For example Drawing on Fridays from 10-12, and Painting from 1-3?

We offer a 20% bundle discount for one student taking two classes on the same day. They are welcome to bring a lunch, and enjoy a lunch break from 12-1 in between classes
