Join artist and professor Don Moore for a one-day intensive workshop on color theory for oil painting at Blackbarn Studio in Kingston, WA. With a Master’s degree in Drawing and Painting and years of experience exhibiting in California and Washington, Don brings a wealth of knowledge to this hands-on class, drawing from his background as both a working artist and a professor at Northwest College of Art and Design and Olympic College.
This six-hour workshop will explore the fundamentals of color mixing, temperature, and harmony, helping you develop a deeper understanding of how color works in oil painting. Through a combination of demonstrations, guided exercises, and personalized feedback, you’ll learn how to create rich, vibrant palettes, achieve depth and atmosphere, and avoid muddy colors. The class will also introduce the Zorn palette and primary triads, giving you practical tools to strengthen your approach to color.
