About your workshop

Adding collage into the painting process opens up new and dynamic avenues in the creative process.

Laying a crisp and colorful shape on top a base of soft acrylic wash sets off a chain reaction of decision

making: adding additional papers; altering the value structure with a glaze of color; drawing; marking;

softening; blocking. The final results will be intriguing images born of exploration and refined execution.

Over the two day course, master artist Amy Dapice will guide students through the process of creating

multiple pieces, beginning with a contemporary still life and moving on to more complex subjects such as landscape, street scenes, and the simplified figure. There will be a strong emphasis on composition and solid drawing, both of which are broken down in terms even a beginner can understand.

The process begins with drawing and creating a “map”of the intended image. What follows is a guided

journey through foundational drawing, collage, and acrylic techniques. This intense workshop provides a

wealth of information and inspiration regarding image making, water-media techniques, and the freedom to take risks and learn from the unexpected!

Please review the suggested materials below. Students are required to bring some basic supplies,
